Have I Hit "Rock Bottom"

Posted in Group:

I have started seeeing a therapist. An idea that actually excites me as I look forward to our next meeting, which is weekly. However, emotionally I have taken a serious turn backwards into a deeper stat of depression. I am functioning, to say the least, but everyone around seems to notice that I am not myself and are more worried now than immediately after the miscarriage. I admit, I was in a denial stage for about the first the month. Now I am in an anger stage accompanied by a deep, binding depression. I work with serveral pregnant women. At first I was able to keep my office door open and listen to them talk cheerfully about the babies they are going to have. Now I find I keep my door closed so I do not have to hear these discussions. For instance, one found out yesterday the sex of her baby. She was 4 weeks a head of my pregnancy. My daughter's second birthday is approaching and while I should be hapily planning her party, I am focused on the fact that March would have been the month I would have found out the sex of our baby. I do have a follow up with my doctor to talk about the depression I am expeiencing this week. I am hoping that maybe some medications can be changed and I will actually feel like living rather than just making it day by day functioning as if I am a drone.

I am so glad you are starting to see a therapist, I think moving through the many stages of grief with a guide will help you immensely. I too experienced a miscarriage right before my daughter's birthday, I can say it did sting to have to function as if everything was normal, but I can say from personal experience it does get better. It seemed that during this period every woman I know suddenly was pregnant and while I was doing my hardest to stay positive, it was so HARD!

Hang in there-again, it does get better.

Hugs-
